New Valve Workshop

In 2018 OMT is building a world’s best practice valve workshop with fixed valve lapping machines, testing jig (hydraulics), compressors, grip blasting and coating facility and an overhead crane for working on turbine valves. Clients primarily from the paper, oil and gas and thermal power sectors will ship valves to OMT to condition, maintain and provide test reports on valves and undertake the needed repairs and services required – issuing a certified test report to verify the set pressure and other details (ISO:9001 certified).

Valves overhauled by OMT include: Pressure Relief and Safety, Gate, Globe, Control, Butterfly, and Non-Return.

The process undertaken includes:

  • Visual inspection and identification
  • Stripdown and cleaning of components
  • Sandblasting of external surfaces
  • Lapping and Weld Repair / Machining of seats and discs (if required)
  • Re-assemble, test, checking calibration to specifications
  • Paint valve and protect flanges
  • NATA Testing
  • Issue Reports
